We have been learning to make a collage on Google Drawing. We had to use the explore, mask and arrange tools to get our collage to come together. We had to make a NZ bird and put it into its habitat. It was a lot of fun and I am really pleased with my bird. Have you ever had a go at this?

Dear John-Paul

Thank you for coming on camp with us.

I liked the search and rescue for Brian, I thought that it was fun finding all the stuff. I also liked
the water tube challenge, I got very wet. I liked when you said that you were going to hulk smash
Eamon and Charlie’s watch. My favorite part of camp was trading pokemon cards with Eamon.

What I found challenging was the tramp. It was long and boring. Moving the tyres was also
challenging.

Thank you again for coming on camp with us.

Dino Attack

One day as I was walking around I heard a ear deafening roar. It was from a
Pachycephalosaurus,  53 Utahraptor and 96 Rhamphorhynchus. Suddenly
there was a tsunami of 264 mosasaurus covering the horizon. When the
mosasaurus tsunami hit the ground 30 of the mosasaurus broke their bones.

I started to run from the dinosaurs but they were faster than me. Then a
dinosaur ate me but I had a pocket knife and cut out of the dinosaurs neck.

For the past to weeks we have been learning about carving here is my work.

Quick Writes Term 4

We have been working on ‘Quick Writes.’  This is where you are given something to write about (a writing prompt) and you only have 10 minutes to write as much as possible using this writing prompt.

For our writing prompts we will use either images or short videos.

1) tomato festival

Tomato Fight

In the annual tomato festival in the Mediterranean village of Bunol people are fighting with tomatoes. Bunol is a place near Valencia which is in Spain. While they're fighting with the tomatoes they are standing on tomato pulp. The people who are fighting with the tomatoes are wearing goggles to protect their eyes and they are covered in the sticky tomatoes. People will probably fall over into the pulp and get more covered in tomatoes.

One day we had a paroro (storm) and it was crazy. The wind was like a tornado sucking up a house while I was down stairs and watching the tv. We then heard a bang so I went to the wini (window) and saw some lightning.

In New York there was a parade that had a Spiderman costume in it. There was confetti everywhere music and the smell of corn dogs and people talking.

For reading we have been learning about space and our solar system.  We learnt about why we have day and night.  Here is my DLO (digital learning object) about why I think we have day and night.

My Taniwha - Writing

For the past few weeks we have been practisign using descriptive language in our writing. We have been trying to 'paint pictures with words'. We all got to invent our own taniwha. We all drew our own taniwha and then we had to write about it and describe what it looks like, what we do with our taniwha, and what our taniwha is like. Then we read our work to a buddy and they had a go at drawing our taniwha.

Create and Describe Your Own Creature

(Nogard - taniwha)

WALT: be descriptive in our writing.  

Look at the description of a Nogard.  Now Create and describe your own creature that you will then be able to read to a buddy so that they can draw it.  Your description must be as detailed and clear as possible so that when you share it with others they will be able to visualise and draw you creature. Use lots of adjectives (describing words - big, small, round, green).

You must .....

• Have a name for your creature
• Start from the big things and work your way to the smaller things
• Describe the shapes
• Describe its neck, body, tail, wings etc.
• What does its head look like?Think about its eyes, nose, eyebrows, mouth, teeth
• Describe its legs/flippers/fins etc.
• What colours is it?
• Any extra details on the body like scales, spikes etc.
• Keep it simple and clear!
• Use correct punctuation and spelling.
• Check that your sentences make sense.

Remember that a good writer ‘paints’ pictures in their reader’s head with words.   This is what good descriptive writing does.

My taniwha is called Slither.

His head is the shape of a half of an oval that is on the side.. He has 3 kākāriki eyes and kākāriki teeth on the top of his mouth. He has four legs. His legs have 2 claws on each foot. His front leg is pango  and the rest of his legs are whero. He has kōwhai spikes on its back. He has blue wings behind his spikes. Slither has a blue tail which is mostly up and a kōwhai lightning bolt on it. He has a whero and kākāriki back with two lightning bolts on the whero side of his back and one lightning bolt on the kākāriki side of his back. On the middle of his back he has a kākāriki and orange spiral.

I head to different dimensions with my nogard SLither, like the lego dimension. Sometimes we see Thor in Asgard. We steal his hammer and we also play pokemon go and get over 50 pokemon each day. We play clicker heroes until we get past 1000 levels and then crash a plane.
